Statistical Literacy in Greece
Welcome to the new dedicated webpage of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), established as part of the strategic initiative for “Fostering Statistical Literacy in Greece”.
The purpose of this strategy is to introduce students and university attendees to the world of statistics through an educational and entertaining approach, helping them understand its application in their daily habits—such as shopping, choosing routes to work or school, calculating study time, managing income and expenses, and more.
Additionally, it aims to inform about the role, use, and production methods of official statistics, based on European and international statistical standards.
The strategy includes activities such as competitions, educational visits, the integration of EMOS (European Master of Statistics) into Greek university departments, online educational games, and much more. Our goal is to develop and expand these initiatives in order to build statistical literacy throughout society, ensuring that everyone can fully utilize official statistics.
